You know what you want for yourself in life, right? You can see it so clearly. The relationship, the career, the version of you that feels alive and on fire. So what keeps you from being there right now?
What if I told you that you're operating on two completely different kinds of beliefs... and one of them is actually running the show?
Stay with me, because understanding this is the key to going from thinking about your goals to actually meeting them.
The Two Kinds of Beliefs That Shape Your Life
Here's what I learned: there are two kinds of beliefs operating in your life. There are high values and lived values.
High Values: The Ideals You Choose
Your high values? Those are the ideals. The affirmations you say in the mirror, the vision board on your wall, the truths you want to live by. These are the things you consciously choose.
"I am capable. I am worthy. I deserve good things."
It sounds really beautiful, right?
Lived Values: What Your Body Actually Believes
But then there are your lived beliefs.
Your lived beliefs are what actually shape your action. They're the beliefs that live in your body. They're the stories and meaning you make from your experiences. They're the subconscious conclusions you draw about who you are based on what you've lived through.
Your lived values are what you truly believe in your gut, not just what you wish were true.
The 80/20 Rule You've Never Heard Of
And here's what nobody tells you: your body memory shapes 80% of your experience. Your high values? They live in your brain and only shape 20% of your action. If we want to really change things, we need to figure out how to influence the other 80% living in your body.
So if you're not where you thought you'd be by now... this could be the reason. You're trying to think your way into a life that your body doesn't believe is safe for you.
The question isn't "What do I want?" But rather "How do I embody my desires so my nervous system will receive it?"
Your Nervous System is Key to Meet Your Goals
Okay, so if your nervous system is running the show, how do we work with it?
Here's what I want you to understand: Your nervous system is like a radio station. And right now, it's picking up a signal. But the stress response? That's static. That's interference drowning out the song you're actually trying to play.
When you learn to regulate your nervous system, you clean up that signal. You tune into your body and live in harmony with the life you actually want to live.
The Real Hierarchy of Change
Your nervous system shapes your thoughts. Your thoughts shape your beliefs. Your beliefs shape your actions. Your actions shape your life.
But what if I told you that your nervous system was laid down as the foundation of all of this? So if you can learn to regulate your nervous system, you can shift your state of mind to a place that is more capable of receiving, feeling, believing, and behaving in the way you want to show up in the world.
You get to be in control of your experience, no matter what's happening around you. This is what I mean when I say you get to be the DJ of your life.
The Problem: We're All Disconnected
Here's what's happening for most of us: We're trying to DJ through a rainforest of static. Our body has a stress response when we take on beliefs, and values, and actions that aren't authentic to us. Living out of alignment is costly on the nervous system.
You're doing a job that doesn't light you up, pushing through when you need rest, saying yes when you want to say no. All of that? It's disconnecting you from yourself—from your truth, your voice, your knowing.
Our world teaches us to disconnect—to push through, to ignore what we feel, to keep moving. And all that disconnection? It feeds your body static. You can't hear the song you're trying to play.
Where Do We Start? Three Practical Steps
So how do we reconnect to your authentic experience?
We start by learning how to be present in our bodies, connected to what's actually happening inside us. For most of us, when a feeling comes up, we immediately push it away. We don't know how to just be with ourselves. We don't know how to be present with ourselves.
When we pay attention and welcome our sensations and emotions, we access the actual, embodied truth of this moment.
Step 1: Daily Body Connection Practice
I recommend spending 10-15 minutes each day to pay attention to your sensations and emotions. A body scan practice is perfect for this, it walks you through how to tune into what your body is actually experiencing.
Step 2: Start Right Now
You don't need to wait for a program. You can start right now.
Tune in. Listen. Notice. What does your body actually feel? What is it trying to tell you? What song is playing underneath all that static? You might be surprised and delighted to discover what is dying to come out.
Step 3: Join a Community
If you want to take it to the next level, I'm actually close to launching my community called Life to the Fullest, a place designed to help you get more connected to yourself and go after what you're really wanting in life.
Sign up for my email list below for updates.
When you start with these practices, everything begins to shift.
You Get to Be the DJ of Your Life
Listen, I know this might feel like a lot, but I want to remind you of the most beautiful thing. You get to become the DJ of your life. You get to choose your song. You get to tune into your body, regulate your nervous system, and step into the version of yourself that knows what you're capable of.
You're not trying to prove yourself. You're not trying to earn your worth. You light up because you feel lit up, authentic, and at home in your own body. And the people who are meant for you? They'll be drawn to that light.
You've got this. I'm cheering you on. And I can't wait to see what becomes possible when you start living from your body, not just your brain.
